Here at Zeina, we’re always trying to find new ways to make our favourite treats taste great and be better for us. We’ve come up with these delicious date balls containing almost exclusively nuts, fruit and vegetables and covered them in an indulgent cream cheese icing so you can have your cake and eat it too!


For the date balls:

For the cream cheese icing:

  • 100g cream cheese
  • 60g softened butter
  • 100g icing sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


1. Grate the carrots with the skin still on

2. Add the dates, walnuts, vanilla, salt and spices to a food processor and blend

3. Add the carrots and almond flour into the food processor and blend until it reaches your desired consistency

4. Scoop the mixture out 1 tbsp at a time and roll into small balls, place in the fridge to set while you make the cream cheese icing

5. Mix the cream cheese, softened butter and icing sugar together using an electric whisk, and keep whisking until the colour turns paler and the mixture increases in size

6. Roll the carrot cake balls in almond flour and pipe the cream cheese icing onto the top, place in the fridge for 1 hour to set
